A New Day

Replica of Starry Night by Van Gogh

20″ x 30″ oil painting on canvas

I love the thick, impasto paint applied to this canvas for a dear friend. Doing commissions can be intimidating (“Will they like it? Will I need to do some adjustments? Will they trust me to do another painting in the future?”). All these things go through an artist’s mind. But when the person says they have full confidence in you and your work, basically allowing you to take the project and run; then that’s a different story!

After not blogging for a long while, I have found a new day. Big projects require our undivided attention, we have responsibilities, and we often just have misplaced priorities, but we can always look forward to trying something different on another day.

Even though we may falter, we are human and not totally reliable; we can depend on our Lord to be constant! “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

So, “Let us search out and examine our ways, and turn back to the Lord.” Lam. 3:40
